This mid-sized machine is one of the most popular of the industrial sized centrifugal machines. The model HZ-120. is used for both rapid deburring and polishing of precision parts in the medical, aerospace, high-performance motor-sports and other industries.
Below is a factory floor video produced by SME (Society of Manufacturing Engineers) shows the operation of an HZ-120 Centrifugal Iso-Finishing Machine used by a precision contract machining operation located in Spokane, WA.
In these photos Heather Lindsley, the quality assurance manager at Space Screw, Inc. in Rathdrum, ID shows off the centrifugal processing the company performs on its turnings. The company specializes in making screw machine parts for the aerospace industry. Prior to transitioning to high energy centifugal iso-finishing the company was performing hand deburring operations on a large proportion of their parts. This was despite the fact that company utilized both conventional barrel and vibratory finishing in its deburring operations.
The hand-deburring minimization that came from this newer high energy processing allowed it to reduce their hand-deburring burden by 70-80%. One one particular part that was being successfully tumbled prior to the arrival of the centrifugal equipment, they were are able to reduce tumbling time from one hour to one minute. (Editor's Note: although centrifugal finishing is well known for rapid process cycles, the foregoing example is an extreme one)
