Many medical companies are using Centrifugal Iso-Finishing machines for finishing medical parts such as hips, knees, bone screws as well as dental partial, implants and orthodontic components. That tradition continues today as the medical industry still relies on newly designed Centrifugal Iso-Finishing equipment with even faster results and with highly polished low micro-inch surfaces.
For the medical industry, the fine isotropic finish produced by CBF machines is a requirement. By running metal implants in these centrifugal finishing machines, medical suppliers can ensure doctors and their patients that they won’t have to worry about plaque buildup, which leads to fewer complications with surgeries and procedures. These machines are also used by many companies to produce exacting surface finishes on medical devices.
Centrifugal Iso-Finishing machines are also great for finishing acrylics such as those used in the production of hearing aids and other acrylic medical devices and implants.
In the last year with a focus on health and safety, many companies have eliminated the use of animal fats in production. We have recently developed a special polishing granulate blend that is free of animal fats for the final finishing of these types of parts. See below some of the many parts with high-level surface finishing requirements that ca be surface finished and polished with Centrifugal Iso-Finishing Technology.
See the video below to see and example of how this finishing and polishing work is done...
Centrifugal Iso-Finishing is used for demanding applications in many industries. The parts below were finished and polished with a combination of wet smoothing and dry polishing process steps.
More about Dave Davidson:
I am a deburring and surface finishing specialist, consultant and advisor to SME's [Society of Manufacturing Engineers] Technical Community Network. The focus of my activity is assisting manufacturers and machine shops with reducing their dependence on hand or manual deburring and finishing methods as well as helping them to upgrade the edge and surface finish quality of their parts.
I currently work from Crawfordville, FL. but I assist clients nation-wide. I can arrange for free sample processing and process development for your challenging deburring and finishing needs and can provide you with either contract finishing services or the in-house capability to produce improved hands-free finishes on precision parts. I can be contacted at my cell: 509.563.9859 or ddavidson@deburring-tech-group.com. Let me know if I can be helpful.
